M981 Amp

I have a M981 amplifier audio frequency, NSN 5895-01-144-5970. Can this be used in place of my AM-1780, for an intercom setup in my truck?

I don't think so. I saw a similar one on eBay recently, was thinking about bidding on it. I think it fits the VIC-3 intercom set, and is not interchangable with the VIC-1 and the VRC-12 series of radios.
