So trying to install a tach in the M1031, I do not want a tiny tach. I would like to have some military looking tach that has an appropriate scale for a diesel engine. I bought the M998 tach. There seems to be a ton of confusing and contradicting info in the forums about tach installs. Whether to use the terminal on the back of the alternator or use the signal coming out of the tach buffer going to the ST ICE port.

I hooked up the tach to the alternator terminal and got nothing. Since the M998 has a + and - signal pins, I hooked the - to ground as a secondary test. Still have nothing. I will continue to search with an oscilliscope or meter in the tach buffer module to see if it has a usable signal for the M998 tach. So far not so good...
