This Time It's Really Happening - MD JUAN GPW Maxi-Kit to be Raffled at CA MV Event April 17,2020

For anybody wanting a complete, new, in the crate, MD JUAN 1942 GPW Maxi-Kit With Frame for building a jeep or for reselling complete or parting it out, one will be raffled off to a lucky winner in April 2020 in Plymouth, California at the Camp Plymouth Swap Meet & MV Gathering! This was supposed to happen at the April 2019 meet but the crate was late getting out of the Port of Oakland and was delivered to the event promoter (Military Vehicle Collectors of California) the week after. So rather than hold a raffle for something people couldn't inspect or touch, the club decided to move it back a year. Rest assured this crate is in a safe location only 30 miles from Plymouth and will be brought to the event for display mid-week.

This drawing is of a MB kit but the kit we have represents an early 1942 GPW.

The event will be April 14-19, 2020. Event details are on the Upcoming Events forum. Click on this link to go there:

The April 2019 event was great! This inaugural venue for an event that has been going on since the late 1970s solved issues we have had with prior facilities and facility owners in recent years. The attendance was the biggest ever, particularly for day visitors, so it continues the reputation of being the largest annual MV event west of the Mississippi.

The reason this big prize is available is because the 2019 event was sponsored by the repro jeep parts manufacturer MD Juan. The MVCC traded name-in-title and other marketing rights for this Maxi-Kit, with the raffle providing the mechanism to generate the sponsorship fee due to the MVCC. So we don't know how much this fee will turn out to be. Please support the club so it can put money back into member and event benefits. Regulars to these events know the non-profit corporation MVCC makes no profit on camping/vendor space fees. Admission and visitor parking are free. The club and monthly newsletter is funded primarily by memberships, with a small amount coming from merchandise sales, the annual April Raffle, and rarely, from a sponsor.

Rules will be posted on in January. I believe the annual raffle on Friday evening will include the Maxi-Kit as a separate raffle with unique $5.00 tickets, with a maximum of 2,000 to be printed. These will be sold at the MVCC HQ and Quartermaster booth during the meet, and at the Raffle assuming they are not sold out. I have heard one must be a MVCC member to win the jeep kit but am not sure. For the record, an annual membership may be purchased for $30 with monthly newsletter delivered electronically or $40 if mailed. There is a three year deal, Life and Business Memberships are available. The MVCC is the largest regional MV club in North America and quite a few members do not reside in it's operating area which is Northern and Central California.

Here is an example of the assembled parts except the springs and five wheels and tires are not shown. Our kit is painted OD:

The Maxi-Kit is the loaded version that includes frame. The crate panels will be removed so the parts are visible. Imagine how this would look as-is in a man-cave garage! MD JUAN is not the 2020 event sponsor and we don't know if a representative will be attending the meet. Regulars to these meets know there will be a good chance many of the parts needed to complete this jeep will be available at the meet, even as late as Saturday.

MD Juan fitment shop:

These crates are fork-liftable on all sides. They can be transported on their sides:

This is not technically their "Kit-in-a-Crate" or "Jeep-in-a-Crate". That is an old style, all wood crate that is an option.
