So a while back I had posted about my low fuel float not consistently working. The nice thing on these is open is good so unplugging the floats means you can run. I hadn't been needing the gen anyway but it's nice to know.
I ordered a new float set up from liquid level and received it and put it on the shelf. Last time I went to run the gen it worked okay so I thought maybe it had resolved it's self. ( right ). Today i decided to exercise the gen and it fired right up and was running good at full load about 10 minutes then shut down for low fuel.
I decided it was time to go ahead and put the new floats in. I opened the package and the floats seemed huge. Sure enough they wouldn't go in the tank. I decided to see if the floats from the original would work on there rod. They did I think since my floats are so much smaller the level at the bottom might be a bit higher when it signals empty but it works.
The other thing that liquid level couldn't make happen is the big gap on the top float so the pump basically runs like it's the primary pump. It keeps the tank plumb full. I got the top float a little high. It's right under the top of tank. And it runs for a little bit then shuts off for just a minute or less. No problem really the primary fuel pump on the offer gens runs the whole time.
I did ask liquid level if they had smaller floats they could send me and they say they can for $10 each. It's my fault for not making sure they had a size to work with. Anyway just a follow up and FYI. I'm happy to have found a replacement. The bad switch is in the tube. Today i couldn't get it to open no matter how I moved or rotated the float. I did think I had fixed it a couple times. Thanks for all the support.
