I am looking to probiby put a set of singles on an M109 i will be working on once piced up. What are the differences between the 12 bolt or 24 bolt MRAP wheels, pros and cons between them and then will they both take the 395 or the 14.00 tires. Last what is the difference in size from the 14.00's and the 395's, which is a better fit for the duece and or the 5 ton, (I may want tosingle out the M817), thanks.

My experience with MRAP tires is that enen the most experienced enthusiasts including multiple sources in the MV tire retail business do not know MRAP from hemtt or others.

I have mrap in 24 bolt aluminum and 12 bolt steel wheels used for different purposes and much depends on the specified mission and weight of the vehicle as well as whether the mrap vehicle is 4 wheel or 6 wheel drive.

Then Ive seen in my research where 12 bolt could be found on lighter 4 wheel drive Cougars in a Cat 1 mission so Im thinking its another situation where soldiers use what is available and that works.

In the end for these lightweight MVs we drive it doesnt matter what you use. Use what you like or what suits you best. Ecen a 5 ton is light compared to mrap vehicles.
