No Power (electrical) SOLVED

I got in my truck last week and turned the key to find no power whatsoever. I had driven it to work that morning and I was busy so I left it and went back to my office. Later on I went back to it, fiddled with the wires on the junction above the glow plug relay and it started so I drove it home.

The next day no power when I went to start it in the morning. So I drove my Silverado to work for the rest of the week.

While troubleshooting with my test light on the weekend I couldn't get the light working on any ground point. None at all.

Thankfully @Warthog has this thread posted that lists ground wire locations for the CUCV.

With that I discovered that the ground from the firewall junction to the frame was missing. My truck cab had been grounding from a single 10 gauge off the front clip to battery negative and the wire had finally given up. The large ground from the junction to the engine is present and must have worked for the starter.

I made 2 ground wires from 2 gauge. I replaced the missing ground from firewall junction to right side frame. I added a wire from the junction to the firewall above the fuel filter for good measure.

Wow! The truck always started fine but now it really turns over FAST! The horn works now. Before this I had to push like hell and it rarely functioned. I cleaned all those horn connection's 3 times over the past 3 years. I have a push button for the glow plugs because I've always had problems with the card and system frying wires. It's time to re-investigate that issue.

Maybe this story will help one of you. Check out @Warthog post above and make sure you have all your grounds if your experiencing electrical gremlins.

Good luck! Fight with a happy heart!

And THANK YOU @Warthog !
