NP203 shifter question

Okay, here is my attempt at the dumb question of the day:

How do you remove the shifter knob on the NP203 shifter?

Is the inside of the knob threaded? Or are you supposed to "push"the knob off by backing off the nut beneath it?

Either I am doing it wrong or mine are really froze up - I have three of these trucks and none of them want to come off without a fight.

I tried that - just standard counter-clockwise right?

I guess mine are just froze up, but I wanted to make sure before I started putting that kind of force on it.

take a piece of old inner tube wrap around the nob and use channel locks or a pipe wench the rubber helps with grip and prevents damage
