Officially a Tennessean

My wife and I (with the help of our two kids who drove the cars while I drove a 26 foot UHaul truck) moved into our (as yet to be finished home in Tennessee on 12 May, 2025.

It has been a whirlwind.

Still hauling water from a neighbor, although I intend to connect the well to the house shortly with help from a local plumber, LOT of wood trim work and staining to do. Dogs love the place. Wife’s having some culture shock but we did therapy shopping for furniture at Nashco last week and she’s healing…

Got license plates yesterday (Disable Veteran, three vehicles, $115 - what a deal) and driver’s licenses today (only 5-1/2 hour wait time plus 20 minute drive each way). Lady at the counter said “now you’re Tennesseans” to which I thought “nah, we’re Americans” but didn’t say it out loud. Maryland, home of Jamie Ratskin - our nonrepresentative - is a real sh_t hole anymore. Home goes on the market tomorrow, already have several offers and much interest.

WHY I’m writing now?

I’m looking for a custom FRONT license plate (TN only issues ONE, rear, vs. MD’s TWO).

Specifically? “My other Car’s a HUMVEE or HMMWV.”

I’ve SEEN one somewhere along the way.

Anyone?

Where in TN? We moved here 3 years ago as refugees from NY. Best thing I ever did.
D’OH!

I changed it in my profile, didn’t mention it in the post.

Hampshire, handful of miles up the hill from Mount Pleasant. 76 acres abutting neighbor’s 88 and another neighbor’s 57.
20 acres pasture/arable, the rest is forested. Got a 100 yard rifle range - extendable to 200 if I ever get around to cutting down about a dozen trees - and a pistol pit from an unfinished house basement slab previous owners put in around 40 years ago. If I ever get time to finish it and play.

Thanks. I never left, really. Just trolled more often.

It’ll take a little getting used to Tennessee - the quiet mostly, lack of sirens 24/7 - my wife’s having some culture shock.

I helped a neighbor unstick his work truck with my HMMWV winch earlier today and think my fuel pump died; I’ll be posting separately about that.

WELCOME I'm sure one of the locals will be glad to teach your wife to say" hi youall" and perform the required liberalectomy. You are going to love the auto insurance too.
