Ohh...Now I understand that M923's aren't just drive on Sunday vehicles.

I was pretty lucky. My first Military Vehicle was a M923-A1 2010 rebuild that I got from GL with only 14 hours on the engine -- very clean, beautiful. For quite some time things just kept on working perfectly so I just monitored the fluids.
I thought it strange to read several posts on the SS forum stating, "These aren't vehicles that you just drive on Sunday with little attention between driving intervals."

Then I began to understand. First there was the turn signal blinker. Then a headlight. No big deal. Maintain and change fluids of course. I changed to a spin on oil filter. Cleaned the air breather vents. Exhaust stack removal, sand, and paint; turn signal bulbs, repair seat spring, replaced the fuel gauge sending unit. And on and on. But hey...I don't mind. I actually enjoy these small jobs. I'm not the guy to replace an engine or transmission, but I can change ancillary items OK and I continue to learn.

I seem to have a list. After this I'm going to do that. Then after that I'm going to do this, etc.

Thanks to all of you on this forum for the superb advice and experience you've freely shared. I wouldn't have fully enjoyed my truck without y'all.

When I was stationed at Hood I ignored my 934A1. Did regular weekly pmcs but never really cared for the truck to much. My battle on the other hand babied his 934A2. The best part is when we convoyed to Iraq from Kuwait. Mine made it both ways with no issues at all, including several NTC rotations before hand. His broke down 5 miles from the gate to Taji in Iraq. Turned out it was just the retaining bolt on the throttle linkage but it was enough to make us laugh about how we cared for our vehicles.

As far as my 818, I'm turning her into a daily driver so maintenance is a must.

Hopefully Mike can stay away from swift truck during his daily drive.
Sorry Mike I could not resist.
