A buddy got his truck running and stopping and hauled it up the road to my Labor Day Weekend gathering... He overheated on one of his first trail rides. We opened up the shop for him and ended up needing to put compressed air to the drain on the side of the block (removed the petcock and ran a wire in and out a few times before we could even get the air to go in...) in order to get the block to flush... Sadly, I have no video of the eruption of mud that came out the engine...I do still have a stain on the concrete...
It pays off to take the time to ensure that it's all in good shape.

Yes it was. The seller kept that.
Right now Ethel is on hold until I finish the M715 as the M715 was closer to "done", and I'm going to have to completely go through Ethels engine, brakes etc before I start reassembly.

After a hiatus to knock out the M715, I've taken the next step needed to get going on Ethel again:
The plan is to get the engine humming, then do brakes etc, then body. Basically work my way out.
I'll update as I progress. It'll probably be in June that I hit it heavy. I have to get Bertha ready for a trip to Bolivar and another hitch offshore, so... but when I kick it off again, I'll be busy as a one legged man...

Finally got (re)started on the old girl.
First thing was to remove the bed (unfortunately I didn't weigh it)
Then I started taking windshields apart to see which one was better and what pieces I could use to make one good one.
Once I got as far as I could on those, I moved to the hood.
Orbital sanding, degreasing/cleaning and primed.
Then the bottom...
Then I picked my boy up and had him working (sweat equity, as this will be his truck) on the fenders
Then we called it a day to let everything dry...

Well its about time we get to see who is really building all these projects and what a great job hes been doing while (somebodys) sitting out in the gulf getting all the credit ?????????? I guess they will have to start a child labor union in LA. to get this fella paid !

That's great . get them started young. Nothing wrong with helping him in his life journey , If you have HANDS you can always make a living , This country needs more of that and a little less social media !!! IMO , stay safe , be well
