Does anyone know if there was a standard undercoating on A2's? I'm getting ready to have mine repainted. I'm finding some tar like coating on the bottom of the cargo bed, and towards the tops of the metal mud guards, but I don't know if that was from the factory, field added, or done after it was surplused. The guy I bought it from did say he sprayed kerosene on it to try and prevent rust. (It didn't..) Just wondering, because I can't remember from my days as a mechanic in the 80's what the finish was underneath. I've power washed as much crud as I can, and I'm going to hit a few spots on the frame with a wire wheel and then rust converter. Just wondering if the undercoating is stock, I may get some roll on stuff if that's the case.
