O.K. I am a new owner of my 1967 Kaiser Jeep M35A2 and was learning about the lights and what the different positions on the switch control. All positions work as expected except the interior (dash) lights. When placed in "dim" the lights come on and are in fact dim. When switched to the other lower position the generator gauge pops directly to zero and I notice no change in the lighting. The generator gauge works well in all other positions. Also, the two dash lights had aluminum foil placed inside the lens cover which stopped any light to the outside of the housing.

Anyone have any information about either of these items? I will happily RTFM if I knew which TM to access. ;-)

So far as the switch positions, the Operator's Manual is where you need to go. See the Technical Manuals section under resources.

The other part? Sounds like some kind of short. That's weird.

It looks like the aux. switch has two positions, dim and park. The dim works well. The diagram shows that when in park it turns on the front parking lights. So, the problem must be in that circuit.

Usually, when there is a short, the circuit draws too much current and I would think the gauge would peg to the upside. Mine is falling to the downside. I will do some more investigation and see if I can figure the thing out.

Meanwhile, getting insurance is becoming a hassle.
