question about hood numbers and markings.

I have been trying to uncover any old markings on my 1951 M37. So far I have only found partial letters on the bumper. Nothing on the hood.

I have a '43 Willys and I know that all WWII jeep hood numbers started with 20 followed by 6 digits.

Is there any particular markings or series of numbers that I should consider painting back on it when I get to it.

Where would stars etc go, and what size should they be?

Particular regs I need to know of?
