Hello guys,
Today I fixed my starter problem.
My starter relay died. What else should it have done?
Since I am not a big fan of relays at all, I went and bought me an heavy duty push button from bosch which is normaly used in old tractors or older farming equiptment as a start button. It is rated to 30 amps switching current.
I cut the original starter relay out and made a wire from the starter solenoid to this switch aswell as one wire from the 24v + junction block on the firewall with a 25 amp fuse to protect the starter solenoid.
Since I am not worried about my truck getting stolen, I don´t mind using just a simple start button. It will crank but it will not start without the ignition key turned on.
People who are worried about theft could easily replace the push button with a higer amperage rated key switch.
Hope this is informative
