Up for sale is a one of a kind 1988 S-1700 International. Purchased this truck at auction back in 2011 from Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. When I received this truck I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it had a DT 466 instead of a DT 360 power plant. The VIN indicated the truck had a DT 360. I called my point of contact at the air force base to find out why it had a DT466. His answer was it was a little under powered for their use so it was sent to International to install a new DT 466 engine. The odometer shows 101K mileage but the approx. mileage on the DT 466 is closer to 25K or less.
According to International's VIN specs the truck was originally ordered through the air force tank command. The transmission is an Allison MT 643 fully mechanical transmission. Gear ratio is 5.38. This truck has been fully serviced with AMSOIL engine oil, Torque Drive Allison trans. fluid and 75W110 severe gear lube.
This truck started off as a faded rust free truck and has been meticulously restored. New OEM heater core, blower motor, dash air control valve, belts, radiator hoses, silicone heater hoses, thermostat, antifreeze with correct antifreeze filter, wheel studs, air valves and hoses.
Upgrades: Humvee seats adjust up/down/slide. 24 volt electrical system, exterior 24 volt slave cable outlet, 24 volt inverter with 2 120 volt exterior outlets, 24 volt 100 amp alternator, 24 volt led lighting throughout dash and exterior lighting, 24 volt running light mirrors, ether injection, rubber armored personell carrier insulation throughout the cab, MRAP 24 volt overhead light with white and green illumination, 2 high end 24 volt Outback air compressors that come close to putting out the same amount of air as the engine compressor. The air intakes for the Outback air compressors have been routed into the cab to keep dust out out of the intake, Stainless 24 volt marine grade horn, Trucklite 24 volt headlights, dash mounted USB and cigarette charging ports with voltage indicator, 2 Spal 24 volt fans made in Italy mounted on drivers and passenger side into the original speaker cut outs with separate toggle switches to evenly circulate cool and warm air, copper screening added to the grille to keep insects and debris out of the radiator, dashboard was removed during refurb process and all the vents have been sanded and painted for smoother air flow. The defrost vents were routed better than factory to direct more air out of the defrost vents. Goodyear 11:20 tires. Super Ride air rear suspension with new dog bone bushings. Rides pretty nice for a short wheelbase tractor. 2 external frame mounted batteries and 2 interior AGM batteries that don't out gas into the interior. Custom center console with large storage compartment. All wheels were sandblasted and painted including the spares.
Note on the ether injection. I never used it even when the temperature was in the single digits here in Idaho. Just tapped the key and she fired right up. Maybe if it gets into the subzero temps. the ether injection may come in handy.
Finishing touches: It has dash mounted EGT temp gauge and trans. temp gauge that still needs to be hooked up.
The doors are perfectly aligned and open and close like new. The window regulators were cleaned, greased and roll up and down nicely. No rattling noises while driving.
GVW: 25,000
Total curb weight on the scale with the dual 40 gallon tanks full: 11,000lbs. The added weight of 1345 lbs from the original curb weight is due to the addition of the Super Ride rear air ride suspension and up sizing the tires from 900:20 to 11:00x20 tires. Comes with the truck mounted drive spare tire and 1 more additional drive spare and 2 new steer tires. The Dayton wheels were professionally installed and trued so no wheel wobble. It’s known that Dayton wheels are good for heavier loads and off road construction site use with dump trucks.
Haul your fifth wheel trailer with ease, comfort and safety on or off road or a M146 military expeditionary trailer that I also have available.
I'm sure I missed some other work done over the years. This truck is all old school without the need of computers / sensors to operate. Feel free to contact me with any questions. FOB: Grangeville, Idaho $24,000.
