Having trouble finding out why my 09 wont start, I already posted it yesterday, I have a remoted starter switch hand held. I only used it on my jeep a few years ago. I want to save myself crawling under the truck a few times so my question is, What do I hook the 2 alligator clips to, ground and the big positive wire or ground and the small red wire.
I know stupid question but Im having a senior monent.

Is your truck still converted to 12v?

You want to supply power from the battery to the positive terminal of the starter solenoid.

DO NOT GROUND the handheld unit. You will fry it and possibly you to.

Connect one lead to the BIG positive cable and the other to the small red wire.

When you pull the trigger, voltage will flow from the Big wire, thru the remote switch and then to the small terminal. The solenoid itself is already grounded. When juice hits the small terminal, it will energize the internal coil, close the contacts and "should" allow the juice to flow to the starter motor and spin the engine.

Clear as mud????

It is still 12v. Talk about a brain fart I would have fried the whole thing. Going to change the starter relay with a new one. I have to think it is somethig else. Whats the chances of the spare relay being bad. Both do click when I turn the key, also the light on the radio dims a little bit until I release the key.. If the remote starter turns it over is the problenm the solinoide on top of the starter.

If your truck is only 12 volts, you can use a jumper wire between the purple with white tracer wire, to the big red wire(use no relay at all).
