Replacing hood side stops on M1097A2- how do I access the backing nuts?

The left and right side hood stops on my M1097A2 are brittle and the driver's side completely disintegrated. I thought no issues and just ordered a couple OEM ones from HPG but I cannot figure out how to access the backing nuts, at least on the driver's side. I only had a couple mins and ran out of time before I had to grab the kiddos from school and thought "no problem, I'll just look it up in the TM when I get home" But no, the -20-3 doesn't help. It highlights the passenger side but I assume it's the same issue to get to the nuts on that side too. What am I missing?

I had the same problem. You really have to get your hand up the inside of the fender and feel around to find them and then put a tool on them. Best to have someone else remove the bolt from the outside while you hold the lock nuts from inside.

I used an old napa open end wrench that had a swivel socket on the opposite end.

Just to be clear you access them from inside the cab, take the doors off and put one hand on the outside bolt then just find that hand from the inside with the other, kinda like touching your nose with your eyes closed..,..

Inside the Cab you can get a wrench on them, have to remove a door if you have one and just use an impact driver or an electric ratchet to remove them, I went back with some Rivenuts and button head screws.

That is allot of strain on just two rivnuts.
Also when you go back with nuts and bolt make sure you put a flat washer on the inside or it will try to pull the nuts through the aluminum.

With the hood sitting on the pad I don't see how it can possibly come off... there are important parts of Aircraft held on with rivenuts.

You are right, brain fart, I was thinking hood latches
For the Record I apply some Green Loctite Sleeve and bearing mount to the outside of the stainless Rivenut and set it with a Pneumatic tool. Past that If I feel one is NOT quite sturdy enough I install a stainless flatwasher as a backer of course you need to drill it to the proper size for the Rivenut...
