I am going to try starting a new thread here since my old one i am not sure if it is getting seen since it was a while back
I swapped a used IP onto my 86 1028 since back in November it started dying when you would let off the throttle. Replaced fuel filter, fuel pump, and glow plugs first, no dice. Had a buddy with a 6.2 sitting in his garage that he said i could rob the IP from as he bought it just because he wanted the turbo off of it (6.2 that someone had put a 6.5 turbo on).
Got it swapped onto my 6.2 and it fired up, went to mess with the timing and could not get it to idle smoothly. Tried retarding it a bunch and then advancing it a bunch, still no dice. But it does not die when you let off the throttle, so i figured it was just a timing issue. Took it out for a test drive and it was doing better, but then it would die whenever i came to a stop. It would fire right back up though.
Then my buddy pointed out to me that the IP may have been turned up since it was on a 6.2 that had a turbo, so last night i backed off the fuel screw 1/4 turn hoping that would help, but no luck. Still has a rough idle. Tried messing with the timing, but couldn't really get any progress.
I would think that the IP would have only been turned up 1/4 turn from stock since that is what i read online that you are supposed to do if you put a turbo on it, but i obviously do not know how much it was turned up.
Can anyone shed some insight on where i should go from here? Should i back the fuel screw off a bit more and try it? or should i turn it back in 1/8 of a turn and try it?
