I am picking up my 1038 hopefully soon. I am considering sandblasting the non-carc paint off. What type of media should I use? Any pointers anyone has are appreciated.

Wear a respirator. Look up the chemicals that are in CARC and pay attention when working with it.

Either a soda or use garnet of some sort. Roughly 80 to 120 mesh. You could use crushed glass but it would need to be a medium grit to be effective on metal. Personally I'm a fan of using garnet.

My latest M-1038 has some panels peeling all the way to bare metal so I have been thinking I would blast them. I see Tractor Supply has garnet for $25 for 50 lbs, so it is not cheap. Do you sweep it up and get a couple of uses out of it?

You can if you're using a dry system. If you're using a vapor blaster, which is what I suggest, you cannot reuse. The reason being is because if you recycle and contaminate the system there's no telling what will be in your media when you put it back in.
