Am putting the taillights on my jeep (former CJ-3A), was going to use the standard military composite lights. Only bulbs I have laying around are 24 volt and 12 volt. The CJ is 6 volt. Went to NAPA (cuz I knew AutoZone and Advance wouldn't have and couldn't order 6-volt bulbs), and even the usually helpful guys at NAPA looked at all the manuals they had and didn't find any 6-volt taillight bulbs.

Anyone know of a source for these older bulbs? I found several places selling the entire taillight housings with the bulbs in them, but I don't need the entire housings, just the bulbs. AAHHH!!

A couple of places that I use for mail order of bulbs are:
http://www.bayareaamusements.com/
http://www.1000bulbs.com/

Both have large supplies of bulbs for industrial/commercial use including automotive ones... Search around on the sites as I know that they have 12/24/36volt stuff and kinda rememberone of them having 6 volt stuff as well..

Susquehanna Motorsports (where I get my Hella E-code ligihting) has some bulbs in 6 volt as well... (not sure if tailight bulbs are a stock item, but I do know that they have 6v H4's...)

Good luck.

Thanks Cabell. I guess I kinda answered my own question - I did a search online and found the following people who seem to not only carry 6 volt bulbs, and lots of other 12 volt and even some oddballs, but they have LED 6 volt bulbs as well! Thats a neat item! Plus, they have an adapter to allow any 24volt lighting system such as found on MVs to use 12 volt bulbs, for only a few bucks. Guess it's a voltage reducer or something. Here's the page:

RE: Also available here

I bet those converters are just resisters. Did you check the cross reference in the technical articles section? I found that my local parts place can get anything but they need the number. I recently got some 24 volt dash bulbs for the deuce from a place on the internet. I think they were called bulbsdirect.com. My local store wanted me to purchase them in packs of 10. The place on the internet sold them individually.
