Strange Markings under the old paint

I was sanding down the drivers side door today and came across the following on the upper left corner

NAIR
BANKS

Any thoughts? It was in 1" stenclis (black) At first I figured it was a drivers name, But NAIR is not much of a name, unless he was a hair remover.


Any thoughts?

Interesting, Its a NY National Guard truck. Perhaps it began life in Va.

or

NAIR and BANKS had a particular attachment to this M35

With the year of your truck being early 1970's, it matches the other M35A2's that both units have onhand right now. While I have no idea who/what NAIR/BANKS is/was, my bet is a driver/TC...
