Thinking about talking to a machine shop and seeing if they can bore out the gears in the tranny so i can put roller bearing in it.......what do you think?

As long as there are complete trannys (good takeouts) available for less than $100 I wouldn't loose time and... a lot of money! It would be of some academic and didactic value, though.
