M998... So I pulled out the fuel tank, front and rear drive shafts.. I’m slowly pulling everything out to work on undercoating vehicle and going through all the systems.. Time to pull the Tcase and Tranny.. Should I remove as one unit, or is there any reason I can’t separate T case first and drop, then the TH400 after... In the TMs it looks like if I support the tranny I should be able to remove TCase first, then Tranny second.. Just looking for easiest approach. I do have a trans jack for lowering items... thanks for any input..

I've lowered/raised them about 3 times now. I've found that taking them down as a pair seems to be easier overall, so long as you can secure it to your jack safely. It's a bit of a burden to loosen the six fasteners holding the transfercase to the transmission while it's installed in the HMMWV, so I drop them together and then deal with that part with unlimited space on the ground.
