I recently received this transfer case with a set of 2.5 ton rockwell axles, the guy didn't know much about it other than that it was out of a military truck. The only thing i can find stamped anywhere id "C290 198" and a very faint "Ford" stamped on it had a drum break on it also. Hoping someone here can help me out and tell me what I have here.

It's upside down in these pictures, anything you can tell me is appreciated, and if this is in the wrong spot I apologize.

It has features of the WWII GMC CCKW Timken transfer case. But it is some kind of adaption of that Timken model for who knows what application.

My guess is to one of them deuce size 4x4 or 6x6 Ford trucks like the CB's and Navy use. Some are flatbeds other are pole setters or even box trucks. That is the only bigger type Ford 4 wheel drive trucks I have seen.
