Just interested. Is there a way to know if this transmission is new or rebuilt?

I just put one of those in my M35 a month ago. I saw no remanufactured tagging and took the top cover off to install reverse light switch upgrade. It appeared to me to be new old stock. Once installed it was quieter than I ever remember my truck being. The tagging on it indicated it was manufactured in the U.K. Whether it was refurbished or not I was pleased.

AFAIK, TMC (Turner Manufacturing Co., UK - in partnership with Spicer) and probably others too, did not build the whole transmission. Instead, they did refurbish them, by the thousands. Including X-many of the old gasser 3052 (1:1 5th) transmissions which were converted to 3053 (0.79:1 5th O.D), and Turner making/installing their own, new gears for it.

I guess the same applies for this one, with the box reading "Dana-Spicer, West Midland, UK" (?)
I cannot say if the new gears were built any better and lasted longer than the original Spicer's, or those from other suppliers like Auburn.
But I do know other TMC-built transmissions for example which have an excellent reputation.

According to that date (9/91), this cannot be a NOS unit.

Thanks for the input. I really hope it goes smooth
The current tramsmission does not shift too good. I have to double clutch 2nd-4th. Plus gears are hard to find so I think the selector fork may be warn or bent up. Im planning om installing a clutch I have the 4 finger. What's the better clutch disc to install?

3 - finger is the newer model. However, material thickness may actually be more on the "older" clutches. I can't speak to "better" vs. "newer".
