I have this part in a sealed silver bag approximately 3 x 4 inches and half inch thick.

NSN is 5963-01-181-4838
Nomen is Module
Mfg date is 12/84

I thought this was a module for the CUCV and ran a search on google and on the TM's but couldn't pull up any info. Now I'm left wondering what it's for.

Tried a govt amdf search and the part must be out of the system cause that came back dead.

Anybody know?

Still in the system and comes back as a Electronic module, Standardized and looks to be Navy and has a Average life measurements of "hours" Wait!! that does sound like CUCV glow plug module.

RE: part

Any idea why it is not listed in the 20P or 34P for the CUCV?

I remember there was some kind of change in the module but can't remember what that was.

I think I'm gonna have to say 'yes'. I exhausted my search. Still think it has something to do with the CUCV since it was in the glove compartment of mine. It is on the AMDF but with virtually no information other than NSN, nomen, ui, and cost.

Unknown part

Well, this request sure had me curious, so I did some research.
I searched every single public use document on Logsa for that NSN, no hits.
The part number for the CUCV control modulator is 12034592 which crosses to NSN 2320-01-123-6827.
I researched that NSN, no cross reference to your part.
What is very odd is that your FSC is 5963 and the correct FSC is 2320. We all know that FSC 2320 equals 'Wheeled Vehicle'. Can anyone help with FSC 5963? I'm guessing that it would come back as some kind of electronic FSC.
Here is a simple suggestion;
open the package and see if it is a glow plug controller!! :D
If it has all the connection pins in the correct place, hey presto, you have a modulator!

RE: Unknown part

Actually 5963 would be for the part itself, which is electonic modules. The end item IF for the CUCV family of vehicles would be for FSC 2320.

Have not opened the package. Hate to do so if it is not something I would need and want to sell it.
