I was an enthusiastic user and contributor on Steel Soldiers for several years when I was buying and fixing CUCVs and gen sets. I've tried to get back into it lately, but it is kind of a pain. Pop up every couple minutes telling me to disable add blocker, & I really don't know how to do that, and it may not be a good idea anyway, how do I know? And when that happens, I have to start over on my search for old posts I' trying to find .

I still run a fleet of CUCVs in my business, and have some original ones too, just got another 1031, and have several running MEPs.

Probably won't be back much unless I can figure out how to browse the site for more than two minutes before it resets me to having log in again and start over.

Not all of us old mechanics are tech dudes.

The ads are what helps keep the site online. It's not exactly a small website to say the least to host. There are a few options for the disable ad blocker notice, either turn off the ad blocker. (Sorry I have no idea what ad blocker you might be using as there's literally dozens, but it shouldn't be hard to disable as most place a icon on the toolbar) The second issue, it sounds like your browser isn't retaining the cookie for your login correctly. Please try deleting cookies and logging back in to store a new cookie.

You also can make the google based ads go away by upgrading your membership. NOT trying to push that, just wanted to add that.

Let me also add a little more here, I get it. No one likes ads. But it's what helps keep the site going. Other forms of social media fund their systems differently. Sure there's ads that generate revenue. But their main source of revenue is data collection of YOU the product. They then sell that data to other companies. We've NEVER done that, and as long as I have any input in the matter, I won't ever support it/allow it.

If you have a working adblocker, you're almost certainly looking for the circled icon in the top right of your browser window. Click it, then click on the power button (you want it greyed out), and refresh to disable adblock for the site.

Their ads are all chosen by the site admins and directly related to MV owners, so they're pretty safe to enable. It's not like the blog sites that just tie into a generic ad network and can end up having malware served through ads.
