Step one remove hook from wiper blade and old insert.
Step two cut plastic to remove from new insert.
Step thee mark and cut notch in new insert.
Step four reinstall hook on wiper blade.

I had to do that when I first bought mine. Have you done the civy conversion? It's cheap and well worth it! A little OD paint on the arms and I don't even notice the difference anymore!
