    d turbo for a c turbo

Noise. From the FAQ..."Two turbos were used on the LDT engines. C turbo, narrow exhaust side housing, and whistler. D turbo, fat exhaust side housing, non-whistler."

Oil Change on the Deuce. When?

The less you use a vehicle or engine, the more frequent the oil changes and lubrication maintenance need to be. Why? Moisture. Stick by the "3mos or 3000miles whichever comes first rule" for infrequently used engines, and change all of the gear lubes out once a year-more frequently if you...

Engine oil mythology debunked, and ZDP content

Decreased levels of ZDDP are 100% related to flat tappet camshaft wear and failures. ALL of the people in the engine industry know this. EVERY major camshaft manufacturer has issued bulletins on this with the warning to use ZDDP fortified oil or a ZDDP supplement or else you will ruin the cam...

Blackstone is who I use for all my oil analysis.

    Deuce Crank case oil

I second Rotella Syn 5W40. Great protection for $20 a gal. Flows MUCH faster on startup than dino Rotella 15W40. Us cold weather guys like that. If you must run 15W40, Redline and Amsoil both have synthetic versions.

Has anybody dealt with C and C out of Ind?

They have some really cool bobbed and standard length deuces on their ebay store. The bobbed models are kinda pricy, but the standard deuces are priced fairly in my opinion if they perform as well as they look. With that said, has anybody here dealt with them and if so how was the experience...

Multifuel Engine life - the facts from Uncle Sam

The ability to run on "damn near anything" is what makes the multi special. It does sound "meatier" than newer diesels as welll-the sound is the one thing that I have always liked about deuces.

Gave the deuce a little work out!

They aren't just the ultimate recovery vehicle......deuces can wheel too! JP magazine took one that was restored by Boyce Equipment and wheel'd in in Moab! It did really well too. Amazing considering the size obviously.

Alas we must say goodbye to you Multifuel.

Driving a 5ton on the street is wishful thinking in most towns/cities. Parking one is another can of worms. Too many issues. Hence, using the "legal" 2.5 ton trucks instead. Trust me, I'd get a 5ton in a heartbeat if I could actually use it on the road as easily as a 2.5ton. lol

Alas we must say goodbye to you Multifuel.

The DT466 is everywhere! A real cheap way to get one is to find a wrecked or outdated IH schoolbus as already mentioned. You can also snag the Allison auto trans attached to it too. This is one of my potential upgrade plans for my Deuce.

4L80E Performance Transmission from PATC ,4L80E is the place I was referring to.

Engine oil mythology debunked, and ZDP content

ZDDP is a very good extreme pressure additive. It is being phased out of API oils because the govt and car manufacturers asked the oil companies to get rid of it for emissions warranty issues with catalytic converters. This removal/reduction in ZDDP is bad if you run a flat tappet cam because...

Multifuel Engine life - the facts from Uncle Sam

The multi-fuel is a nice piece of military diesel nostaglia. Modern diesel techology is light years ahead of the multi-fuel, so comparing a new diesel to the multi is kinda unfair. The multi-fuel paid its dues and time moved on. With that said, there's a reason the A3s were upgraded to CAT...
