    M818 price

Good Question. Price range is approximately: $5000 and under for a poor example that has several issues needing repair to start and operate properly. $5000 - 8000 for an example that is operational, but ugly, needing paint and a few issues repaired, but will drive. $8000 - 12000 for a good...

M818 vs M931A1 head to head

The M809 5-ton series trucks were and are extremely dependable. They were very simple and very overbuilt. Our combat engineer company used these beyond limits with virtually no breakdowns. The deuces broke down regularly, but not the 5-tons. The 900 series 5-tons are great when relatively new...

    Deuce v. 5-ton for a bob-job

Most all states regulate mandatory CDL's for ONLY vehicles with GVW over 26,001 lbs. and or air brake systems. Neither the Deuce nor the 809 series 5 tons have air brakes. They have Air over Hydralic systems that don't qualify as the definition of air brakes. In MOST states, 5 ton trucks...

Height of the pintel hitch on 818 with 11.00's

The pintle on a M818 is low for a 1.5 tlr. The M818 is actually lower at the pintle than the other 809 5-Ton models. I have 53's on my M818. My pintle is on the high side of standard. I am looking in to lifting a 1.5 tlr to ride level with my raised pintle. trailers that are un-even don't look...

5 ton axle bearings and seals part# x-reference?

On the 5 tons there is a conversion available. this conversions is supposed to last vs. the old water forging seals were short life but were an attempt at waterproofing. This is how I understand what a heavy truck mechanic told me the other day. Maybe some one can comment on this with education...

Height of the pintel hitch on 818 with 11.00's

I believe the 1.5 trailer has a 32" hook up height. I would think an 818 would meet that standard. never safe to assume. I will look into it.

Thanks for the shift boot link. I was thinking your engine heater was a block heater, but I will look into the heater hose type. Do you have any links to the heater hose heater?

    Bobbed 5 Ton Pics

Leaving the spare tire carrier and toolbox would be a good idea for a bobber. The only problem is that the larger tires won't fit in the spare tire carrier. The extra room would be nice for a tool box/fuel tank.
