As I earlier posted, I picked up my M1078 LMTV last week. The ID plate inside the cab was removed and I did not know the ID number for the truck.

Today I contacted BAE Systems and inquired about the location of a secondary ID number on the frame rail. BAE Systems was very helpful informing me no secondary numbers were stamped on the frame.

They did advise that if I provided the engine, cab and transmission serial numbers they could provide original ID number for the truck. So I took some photos of the serial numbers and emailed them in. Within minutes, I was provided the ID number. They also included PDF with how to break down the ID number for the LMTV, see attached.

Now will be the fun part, getting the SF97 from GL and titling the truck in Florida!

I talked to them in May or June of 2014 and they were closing everything up then. In talked to a lady by the name of Crystal. They had just sent warehouses full of parts to the scrapper, I had one of the first LMTV's released and she told me everything about the truck, all the way down to it was built the month she started at that location. She was in management and said had she known the trucks would be going to auction that she would have tried to find a way to keep some jobs there instead of scrapping everything.

You can't call Sealy anymore!
You can with ouija board.

Back in 2012 though '14, I had many running conversations with a BAE manager. One was regarding the VIN only being on the dataplate. He said later on, the VIN was also added to a second location. I don't remember exactly, but the right frame rail seems to come to mind. Unfortunately I also don't remember if it was on the phone or an email...? :???:

I know this post is from 2011, but I thought I would give it a try...

How did you go about obtaining the SF97 for this vehicle?

Thank you.

I am not the original purchaser. What happens in the case the original purchaser is not available? Thank you.
if your lucky the original owner did NOT pull of the dash or elsewhere the Govt. Liq. sticker with auction number on it.. If so then you you can contact Govt. Liq. and provide them that number. I have heard they will at times be kind enough to contact the original purchaser (via details they got when it was won at auction) and give that person your contact information and a message to please contact you.
