Hello There,
I want to say up front I have read a lot of starter problem post's but none really answered my problems question so here it goes.
I have a 6.2 that runs like a champ, it was removed from the M1008 and put into my crew cab, I had to remove the starter for clearance and not breaking stuff issues. Upon reinstaling the starter I hooked it back up the way it came off and used the back starter bracket as well. I tried cranking it up and it sounded like the bendix was grinding teh teeth off the Flex plate ?? It also ran away on me even with the key off, so I jumped out and unhooked the batteries and it still managed to break the nose cone off the starter ! This is the same starter that has been on this engine for a long time. I know it must be install error but they are not tricky to put on so not sure where I could have went wrong. I installed another starter and the same thing happened, but I managed to get it disconnected before this one broke. The batteries are full charge and have started the other 6.2 I have also ?? Any thoughts ? It's a 12 volt system. Thank You for your help and service to this country !!![Thumbs Up [thumbzup] [thumbzup]](https://www.steelsoldiers.com/images/smilies/icon_smile_thumzup.gif)
