Interesting, . . . it looks as if your replacement engine has a "D" turbo, but the exhaust is a N/A type (skinny stack and muffler under the cab) .

Mine was originally a N/A also.

Is your data plate there? Is it a '66 Kaiser-Jeep model?

The first pic is a 1966. I don't recall what the other truck was. They both have the down under exhaust.

Help!!! I can't figure out how to lower the box!! It wants to raise but how do I lower it!!

The dump has 2 way cylinders, pushes up and pulls down. You need to engage the pto by pushing in the clutch and moving the lever all the way forward, let clutch out gently, lever forward to raise the dump and rearward to lower it.

You need to read the manual before you break something! It shows pics where the lever goes with the bed movement.

I'm confused by the "engage the pto" are you talking about the winch pto? The lever by the emergency brake only engages/does something moving forward it seems.... which raises......so you're telling me the same lever moved back or towards the back of the cab should make it power down? Are the winch pto levers and this one unrelated? I may be asking dumb questions here but I simply cannot understand how this bugger works....and its stuck in the up position......in my driveway, hasn't bleed down one bit....

Like hndrsonj said, please read the manual.

In the meantime look in TM 9-2320-361-10, about page 203, 2-30 and I edited post #43.

You need to find the older manuals that still have the dump truck in them. I extracted the dump pages from the 1980 and 1965 versions of the older TM 9-2320-209-10, but you really need to find the whole manuals, + the -20, -30, -34, -34P, etc. Looks like the 1988 version of the 9-2320-361-10 still has dump stuff in it.

so it appears that little spring tension thing is some kind of physical safety lock device(like on the winch pto control neutral position) that will hit on the seat etc if its tried to move forward. Its not some kind of cable device etc correct?

it also appears that all the motions are forward on this thing with the single lever on the side by the parking brake, with the different positions moving it to different up hold or down strokes. Should i feel some kind of detent when it hits the different positions?


i do have another question for you all. When the winch pto control is in "neutral" with the safety lock holding it in place and the transmission is as well and transfer should the pto shaft for the winch still be spinning?

If the WINCH drum clutch is disengaged, the pto can still spin especially with COLD gear oil

yep something is for sure out of whack..... it will power up all day long, but cant get it to power down following the TM process. When i pull it up out of the Power Up position its really hard and nothing happens, so im going to check all the linkages and go from there.

a question for any of you who own one of these rare birds....

Is there a process or something to check to see for proper adjustment of the lever and rods etc? It seems that there is two rods underneath that have threaded adjustments on them. To me its seems that if this was out of adjustment it wouldn't work correctly since its all connected to one lever.

With engine off and moving the lever see if the rods are moving the valve shafts in and out all the way. It could just be like you think an adjustment to the rod(s) need to be made. Worst case valve needs rebuilding. On mine there is no difference in lever resistance through out the range of movement.

what im considering doing is completely unhooking the rods etc and moving them all by hand to see if they are free or bound up.

id also like to change the hydraulic fluid and add a filter on the return line. Does one of the TM's show where to drain the system from and which house is what etc etc?

Good idea. My tm's are on cd I'll go through them but I think think they were pretty vague on which valve does what. It'll be follow the lines.
