I want to know how you get them off base. Not being able to drive them at all seem extreme. How do you load them? That would take a serious winch. The hydrolics don't work without starting it. I know I have seen rules posted but picking up had different rules. Just curious how it works. I guess you get them hauled out the gate and then drive them. I know we drove rice tractors hundreds of miles because the cost of hauling them was so high. Could I pull them with my Cummins and a really big tow strap? :grd:

You can start them and drive them up on a stepdeck.......you just can't drive them off the GL site and across the base to get out the gate.

I doubt if they will let you flat tow them with another vehicle (assuming you had a big enough vehicle and a Heavy towbar (takes two or three guys to hook one up).

That's why I suggested a heavy wrecker with the lift that goes under the front axle. You can put air on the vehicle by hooking it to the air on the wrecker to release the brakes......or just let the truck idle to keep the air up.

There are alternative methods for removing the pelt of the feline mammal....there is however, no way to make him enjoy the process.

The MRAP towbar is rated at 83000 lb pull but Im certain a flat tow is out of the question as well.

Im sure they will want a civilian tow vehicle in there that is safe and insured for towing/hauling.

I was riding around with the GL rep at MacDill Thursday and we talked about these. He didn't know they were street legal. Might be worth a call to tell them you have bought insurance and see if they'll let you drive them off of the base.

I'm interested...

If you guys can get me addresses where yours are going, I have a shipping broker I work with that moves my tanks. I could see if we could get a volume discount of some sort.

I've got one that I need to get to Oklahoma - I still don't have my shipping 100% locked in.

It would go to 74723.

I won a complete unit-power unit and trailer. Perhaps those that paid more for power units did not notice that is was for a single item. The singles where mixed in with complete units. Next up is planning to get it to Minnesota.

OK guys....since I am in need of an adventure fix may I submit a proposal.......I would be williing to go to J'ville and make sure all of your trucks get on trucks or off post to a safe harbor.

They would all have to be picked up on the same day or in a very narrow window (no more than three days on the ground in J'ville).

I know with the EUC issue this may not work but I think if the GL folks knew the deal they would work with us on it.

I would be willing to drive one back to my LZ in Alabama and hold for someone north of me.

My fee would be 150.00 per day plus expenses to be split among the folks that I work for.

Folks on SS that have used my services can vouch for my ability to work with GL and get the job done.......peace of mind is worth something.

If any of the winners are interested PM me and I'll call GL down there Monday and see if it's a viable plan.

If I'd a known You 2 would do this, I would have bought 2 at those prices and have had the hired trucks there. Thanks for offering and I will keep this in mind for future reference. Your fee and expenses are reasonable.:driver:[thumbzup]

That works for me Ron.....you could ride down with me.

For the guys north of me it would save 460 miles of freight charge.

Right now the count is two going north and two going west and one going south.

I had most of those Jacksonville trucks on my Watch List and a credit card with zero balance on it standing by.

There were 24 complete units and four Power Units at J'ville (although in the pics all of them had trailers attached).

Average price per unit was $15,000.00

Highest price paid for a complete truck (before buyers premium and tax) was $21,500.00

Lowest complete was $11,500.00

The power units sold for $10,000.00, $14,500.00, $16,000.00, $16,277.00.

Considering the whole vehicles cost us the taxpayer around $188,000.00 each the price was right on all of them.

I have inside information that there will be more of these up in the future so I held back this time.

Congrats to those SS members that got one of them.

If you need help recovering them I have the contact info of a trucker in Orlando that is experienced in hauling MV's. I might even go down there and drive one back to my place.

It says that the trucks can't be driven off post and must be loaded on a trailer but that GL won't assist in loading.

If I were a winner I would call the number that was posted in the discription, 904-779-6676, and see if they would let a commercial wrecker move it off post and then it could be driven off from there.

Now that I think of it if all the winners on here were to get together it would be cool to convoy them. Sharing the cost of a wrecker to get them off post would be cheaper.
Hmm, time to coordinate some load out and shipping details. I want a flat bed trailer style and it needs to come to Wisconsin.

I want a near perfect one that only needs PM and fluids change outs and such. I can't fix big stuff due to the MS.

I'd prefer hauling the truck in case of breakdowns.
