I'm going to do some painting soon, know the three basic colors, but what is the lighter green on this truck? Is this an improvisation by a soldier?
Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
I've never used a spray gun before, so I was planning on paint cans, but maybe I'll give it a try.1-Patriot:
I purchased a deuce from a restorer that had the same shade of light green on it. Light green was one of the colors included in the "Verdant" color scheme back when there were 4 color camo designs. It you look at the Aervoe website ( http://aervoe.com/paints_coatings/Military-Vehicle-and-Recreation-Camouflage-Paint.html ) it shows you the available colors and lists the Federal Standard number for each color. A little of the light green goes along way. On my truck it reminds me of a Popsicle. Using the Federal Standard number Home Depot can mix you a sample container if you want to try it out.

So this was just a soldiers improvisation? The 4 color scheme was long gone when the A2's came out.
Most military paint jobs are improvs. They use what ever is handy. Be it mops, paint brushes, rags, sprayguns, etc. And the paint is whatever is on the shelf.
Of course YMMV.
