Power Steering lines and brake power

This may be a dumb question, but can i disconnect the power steering lines and still have brakes? I want to pull the engine but need brakes still to move it around with out the engine in.

you think I need to cap them? I'll be ready in a few months , you know yet if or when you will be getting down this way to see relatives??

Just leave the pump in the truck. Disconnect all the mounts off the motor and tie it off to the side. I don't know when I will roll south again.
