I just got off the phone with Alan Powell, who said the Motor Vehicle is going to meet this afternoon. He was not aware of this bill until now.

Call made to Eddie Lumsden of District 12. I was actually able to speak to a human instead of an answering machine. The nice lady said she would let him know. I thanked her for her time. I should have practiced the narative a few more times but I think I got my point across. Also put a post on facebook asking for EVERY one of my Georgia Facebbook friends to make the call. Next stop, the gmail machine. Stay tuned for details.

Well I am in the dark on it as well and have been trying to watch the agenda as well - and I keep seeing them 5 words at the bottom = agenda is subject to change. So I am rolling and guessing 15:00 to 16:00 will be their sit down time (of course unless it is subject to change once again).

This is cool

Does anyone know where the FMTVs fit in on all this? I'm pretty certain that meeting FMVSS was part of their contract.

Kenny - yes to your question.
Grounded Wheeled vehicles that GL has issues an SF 97 to are included (not per name) but by the DOD requirements of Mil-Std 1180B.
They are exempt but comply with manufacture specifications which are pages and pages of FMVSS standards. Remember the YEAR is the factor here and not Manufacturer. GL will not issue an SF 97 to anything that cannot be titled or registered.

Did this answer your question ?

I think so. My 86 M1008 has the FMVSS sticker and is titled so it should be no problem. If one were to buy a 94 LMTV lets say M1078 and was able to get the SF97, it should be able to be registered as FMVSS standards were part of the contract between DOD and Stewart and Stevenson, right?

Are we really at the mercy of GL making the decision on what gets an SF97 and what doesn't?
