Anyone interested in adding some color to Memorial Day weekend at Mountain View Cemetery in Lakewood. A man called from the outfit and asked if I knew anyone. This would be maybe for the whole weekend and maybe for their Memorial Day service. If I can get away from work tomorrow for a bit, I will try to go and talk with him. If you might be interested, pop a note on here, PM me, or give a call and we will work it out. P

Car show in Joseph, Oregon, June 12-13, 2015. The promoters of this event in the beautiful Wallowa Valley (friends of mine) would love to have participation from some military trucks, in addition to mine! Pre-Registration is pretty much sold out, but that is for dinner, etc. You can enter show and shine right up to the event. I have 5 acres here and can provide a place to park, camp, work on rigs, etc. We are about 100 miles SE of Walla Walla and 100 miles South of Lewiston, ID. I know that this is a long haul for many, but I can assure you that it is worth the trip......most beautiful place on earth....with 9500 foot mountains, Wallowa Lake and much more. Check out the Wallowa Mountain Cruise site www.oregonmountaincruise.com.

Certainly right there among the prettiest for sure. Thanks for the great photo! You got it all covered: the MV jeep, Old Glory snapping in the breeze, and the Mountains.

I love those Western barns too, low and ground hugging. They're kind of special. You don't see any of those back East here (naturally); we don't get the winds like you all do.

I'm curious what the elevation is from the foot of that mountain to the ridge at its top. It's deceiving because there's nothing to scale it to. Do you have any idea what that vertical distance is there?

Thanks for the reply Ahab. I have a daughter living in Alexandria, VA. Joseph is at 4200 feet. So that is an almost vertical 5000+ feet rise from the valley floor to the top of the Eagle Cap Mountain peaks. Google "Wallowa County images" for some great photos of the farms, the mountains, the alpine lakes and Wallowa Lake. My relatives crossed the Oregon Trail in 1852 and settled in this valley in 1872.

Tomorrow some of us are headed to Ocean Shores to help out with a VFW Memorial Day service. Any one want to tag along. So far we have 4 vehicles. We will be meeting at the Rusty Tractor in Elma, WA at 0800 for breakfast, maybe a little sooner if we drive fast, and then head down. The service is at 1200. Once that is over and everyone is ready to go, we will head back.

Also have a Memorial Day service at Mountain View cemetery at 1400 on Monday, then head for home. Anyone wants in on that, let me know. P

So who owns the collection of stuff out at Cedar Springs camp in Lake Stevens?
My wife comes back from day one of a three day church camp with the kids and says look at this.
On her phone she has pictures of an Alvis Stalwart, a deuce, an m37, and a ww2 jeep.
My daughters said that there was a military ambulance also parked in a building of some sort.
Got to be a member here, or should be.

The Ocean Shores event went well and they fed us hotdogs. We had 4 vehicles, M923, M923A1, 43 GPW, and 53 M38A1C. Found out that my 923 went to Iraq in 2003 and maybe 2007. Met a SFC from the unit and he clued me in on some of the history. Also got to see what a happens when a deer and 923 meet at 50 MPH. All that can be said was that it was quick. The guy in the civy truck behind me said he was very thankful that I was leading instead of him.

What unit was your 923 with? I found out that the unit that had my 923a1 was in the sandbox a couple times also. Don't know if my truck went over or not.

923 is from the 224 Eng. OR ARNG. There is another 923 here in town that is 4 numbers off mine. Recently spotted a 923A2 off Bishop Rd. in Chehalis. It is desert tan too. Have not seen anyone around it to stop and talk with.
