I'm trying to figure out what alternator is installed on this truck. There are no identification tags on it that I can find, so I have attached a few pictures in hopes that one of you guys will know what's installed. Does it look stock or aftermarket to you? If aftermarket, any guess as to the amp rating or any other specs?

Might be painted over. In theory it's 60 amps at 26-28 volts under the worst conditions. Back in the 70s that was a decent amount of power. Not really by today's standards though.

Yes, stock 60a model. Mine tested to deliver over 60a at idle and over 80a at speed. The 8.3 engine starts so quickly, very little energy is pulled from the batteries, even if using only 2, so recharge is quick and easy. As long as you have batteries less than 5 years old, with no additional loads, it should be fine. If you are adding electrical loads, or trying to stretch battery life beyond 5 years, the stock alternator may give out. It also has weak connections for the wires under the cover. Finally, it will over-volt the system if the dash switches are shut down in the wrong order, and wipe out the ABS module, possibly damage the PCB, CTIS modules. Conversion to civilian alternator alleviates most of these concerns.
