Drew - What is involved in converting www.steelsoldiers.com to HTTPS? Do you have any plans for making this change?

Maybe add another section on the classifieds for "wheels and tires" since there seems to be a good many of those ads. and maybe an FMTV section since none of their stuff fits any of the other trucks. I mean even doing an FMTV/HEMTT/HET section combined since their stuff being pretty scarce someone doesn't have to search thru all the normal classifieds to find them.
Would be nice to have sections specific to the vehicle under parts. Maybe even a way to put "closest to me" for large items.
I could splinter the classified section with more sub-sections. But there's several issues, first being people won't post in the right forum. Second it will not really limit searches. And if it was branched out, people might put the wrong item in the wrong category, then when searching under specific category, you wouldn't see the part you're after.

I'm not opposed to this splintering down of things. I just know the community struggles at times with placing threads in the right section. I think the proposal would simply confuse things even further.

my one thing, humbly submitted, lengthen the time to "timing out". I get why it does, but a little more would be nice. Maybe 30 minutes, if the bandwidth allows.

How about getting rid of and editing classified ads? Am I missing something obvious?

Ads are automatically pruned once a week after 30 days of inactivity. I will have to review, but I believe we've got editing enabled in the classifieds. I think however the delete is a global thing. So if a thread lives outside the user ability to delete, it either needs to hit 30 days of inactivity to be auto-pruned. Or the user would need to report the post to have us delete it.

patracy, I can not do that at work, "shared" computers. If it can't be done, cool. No biggie. I have taken to composing in Word then copy / pasting to the reply box. Thanks. I looooooooove this site.

Could you just make sub categories for the region instead of having Washington and Florida ads next to each other.

The locations are actually subtitles, not categories. Basically a form text to add in addition to the title. The classifieds previously had no sorting at all for location. I thought about making state sub-forums, but I knew the mess that'd get into. As a compromise we went down the state title form route instead.

With all that said, there's still a means to search for what you want. Here's a link to the advanced search. I've specified it to search under the classifieds and for FL.

https://www.steelsoldiers.com/search.php?search_type=1&contenttype=vBForum_Post&forumchoice[]=126

Edit, can't actually form that link. However, you can specify the classified forum as the section to search under, then state.

No problem at all, there's stuff I learn from time to time about the software too. (With a lot of teeth gnashing LOL.)

(Paid Members Posting in classifieds) What Is the difference between a paid member or someone who gives donations? (suggestion) Maybe a section for people to go and find member added tips on how to use the site. (How To) Post Pictures, Leave Feedback, Search, Etc.

There's been several donations. Many of which were only people asking to donate to the site. I decided to grant them upgraded memberships based on their donations as well. (Extending many already upgraded members) As to your other question, this forum is for that actually. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/forumdisplay.php?33-SS-Site-News-Improvements-Updates-Suggestions

I know that the extra google ads that showed up a while back were removed for premium members. Any chance they could be removed for vendors as well?
Ooops, let me see if I can address that now. I'm going to use you as a test subject. Please let me know if you're still seeing the ads.

What about a notification sent to a member by using the @ symbol in front of the login name, like @Csm Davis if someone wanted me to look at something, it would send me a notification to look at a thread.
