HIMARS cab on a M1078

Has anyone attempted this?

I suddenly find myself in possession of both a M1078 with cab damage to the roof, and a never installed super clean HIMARS cab. :jumpin:

Hopefully it is pretty straight forward... Time to read the technical manuals.

I was going to attempt one a few years ago when I had the pour tuning to get one of those cabs but realized with my work schedule it would never get done. If you do please keep us updated with pictures!

HIMARS???? Yeah..... I had to look that one up too...View attachment 684632
There were a few available a few years ago when I got my LMTV. There weren't hardly any FMTV's release back then and stuff like this for them were kinda cheap. These cabs, if I remember correctly, are insulated and has a closable hatch in the roof. The shields on the front open and close for protection.

Hopefully your 1078 is an A1 truck with the 3126 engine, or you will be spending a lot of time on the wiring. I'd love to have that cab on my truck and I bet worth all the hassle to install.

That HIMARS cab uses the C7 electronics and can bus so none of those gauges will work with a 3116 you will have to swap over the 3116 cab wiring and fuse panel. Parts for the HIMARS cab are nearly impossible to find in the civilian world, but regarding fitment I don't think it will be a problem to bolt on onto an LMTV chassis.

You wouldn't happen to have any manuals laying around would you? The wiring in the cab is crazy. I am planning on on gutting the inside and putting my current cabs electronics into it. I will have to switch the electrical connection points under the cab also. The HIMARS cab has a crapload more connections for the missile system.

The HIMARS uses a different IETM than the standard LMTV/FMTV... I've got the HIMARS manual but havn't deciphered how to use it.

The manuals I have are NOT for the cab but the launcher itself. Sorry, they would not help at all. Now if you had the launcher itself....

Rest of the cab connections should be standard FMTV stuff. Basic truck is the same, just has special frufru crap in the bed. Check the TM

Also, if anyone has a HIMARS cab they are willing to sell, please let me know.

Going to make a sheetmetal dummy rocket launcher module for the back? Perhaps with pneumatics to launch a man like the circus shows?

I have a buddy that put a new hmars cab on a 2005 1088a1 with a C7. It bolted right up, was very straightforward and they got it to run, not drive though. The main problem they encountered is the hmars cab has a different TCM, it's the same TCM as the 1087a1 and BAE Caiman with the C7, both of which I happen to have and both are big heavy trucks. I swapped him the harness from a 1088a1 that I had and took the hmars harness to use on one of my caiman's, but I don't think he ever got the harness fully installed or the truck finished.
