Not entirely sure what my inspiration was but basically woke up one day and decided i needed a humvee...bid on a non running truck and got it. Next week i decided i needed one that ran so i placed a couple more bids....another week later a friend purchased one and i saw the opportunity for low priced trucking and placed a low bid on another non runner but looked very clean.

the first two pictures are the same truck a week apart. I just pressure washed the green and painted the chassis black.... and added the 40's i took off my postal jeep. Got it home, tossed in some batteries, filled up the engine oil and trans and crossed my fingers, crank but no start. Skip 20 minutes into the diag and i notice no clicking at injector pump when cycling the ignition. Verified voltage and it was good, removed top of pump so i could see if the run/shut down solenoid moved, it did not, operated it by hand a couple times and it started to work. Put it back together and i had a good running truck! Trans/brakes/steering and all work great. Got lucky!

At this point Hopes were high for my other non running truck. Picked up 3 in one trip, green 2 door fired up and drove on the trailer. Truck was in great shape, once again i felt pretty lucky. Tan 4 door needed batteries but fired up no problem. Tan 2 door needed batteries which i brought, cranked on it and instantly recognized the sound. Took two seconds for me to know more than one cylinder was low on compression. I was ok with it because the truck was clean and pretty cheap. Used the running 4 door to pull it on the trailer. Where we noticed the 4 door was missing the right rear cv shaft for whatever reason.

next day...today.... I performed a compression test on the tan truck, after finding the first cylinder low and the next one lower i decided to pull the head, looks like it got pretty hot at one time as a couple pistons were melted a bit and started to become part of the cylinder walls. Everything else was very clean. Think i have sourced a shortblock for next to nothing so ill just be out a bit of time.

Been a fun couple weeks, wife has asked me to stop buying them! Haha.

Green two door has a complete manual labor kit...pioneer kit, very clean engine, like new doors and top. Any idea what the brackets on the hood are for?

That is used to bolt on a combat id panel. Looks like a louvered ac vent that makes the vehicle stand out when viewed under infra red.
I would be interested in them if you remove.

Looks like you've been having fun! I gotta say, that 4 man sitting on 40's looks mean!

How far did you have to tow them? It looks like 5 minutes taking the troop cover off would have cut down on a lot of wind resistance...and saved some fuel.
For future reference and scientific purposes i got the same mpg pulling the green one with cover as i did pulling one with no top.

IMG_7661.jpgIMG_7686.jpgTan truck that needed an engine got a 6.5 from a suburban. It had a turbo so my dumb ass decided the humvee needed one....and a doghouse.... and different cylinder heads.....make the mechanical modulator work with a turbo in the way, oiling modifications to the block.... and a few more things. Think i have a plan for everything. I will see in the next few weeks. Not the first thing i have added a turbo to.

IMG_7901.jpgIMG_7886.jpgIMG_7887.jpgIMG_7888.jpgMade some progress this weekend, decided to throw cylinder heads and turbo parts on one of the trucks. Had to drill the holes for the turbo feed and drain, and make a gasket. Im pretty confident the gasket will be just fine, so far no leaks after running a couple hours
