Thanks but the jeep is rated for 5,000 lbs and like I said I have a way of braking the trailer with a full conversion to electric with a wireless brake controller. I also don't plan on driving 70 in the snow with it . But I still would like to find a different rim and tire combination if possible

Bolster rim, 6 lug and tires from a HMMWV would be the size of the M101A3 @ 37.5". A smaller diameter yet is the 12.5 x 16.5 on the same bolster wheels. Links are above for viewing both, I believe.

I wouldn't do it. The M105A2 goes fairly well behind a 1ton pickup, but even with a lift and an altered hitch it still isn't quite level.

I have a jeep. 3:73s and the heavy tow package. I wouldn't consider it as the primary tow vehicle for an M105. An M101, sure, or an M1101 no problem . But not an M105A2. Just no. SUBOPTIMAL.

Recent relevant experience towing a military trailer using the jeep. Granted, this isn't an M105, but loaded as pictured it weighs just a bit more than an *empty* M105. And it has surge brakes.

The jeep was unhappy. This was a one time thing to get the trailer home, but even in that context I immediately wished I'd brought a real truck to pull it with....

Yes, the "pucker factor" can be quit high when towing something that heavy with a short wheel base vehicle.

While most of you folks are going with smaller wheels/tires, I am thinking of going larger. My 105a2 has the standard 9.00x20 stock tires. Is there a larger tire that will fit these stock rims? I would like to raise the height to match my 923. Can I go with say a 11.00 or a g177? How about a 385 off a 1078 truck? Will it fit the rim? Tubes? I searched high and low. Thanks again guys!

MAXIMUM tire size for STOCK M105A2 wheels is 1100x20 per TM's. Mine are stamped on the wheel(inside, under flap/tube same info).Yes G177 1100R20's with flaps and tubes fit fine. Other people have put bigger tires on these wheels with success. Doesn't make it right or SAFE. The stock wheels are too narrow for those big wide tires, (FACT) and makes those tires look stupid. No, I'm with you. Safety is is the utmost importance. Seriously. I'll dig into the 11.00 size. Thanks for the quick reply.

In Post #19 on page 2 of this very thread I posted a link to where I changed my M105A2 trailer to run Goodyear 11.00x20 G177s... Have you read this whole thread?

The G177s fit just fine and now the trailer, once-again, has the same tires as my M35A2 (I upgraded its tires as well). Yes, I reused the stock wheels on both trailer and truck.

Peashooter put 395/85R20's on his M105 trailer. You may enjoy reading his whole, awesome thread:

Willyk, see the 395 that Valence linked? The 395 could go on a deuce A3 wheel, same pattern.

Or while they are pricey, the 365 or 14.5 if you don't want to go to the very large 395. In fact, I think I saw four in classified with 14.5.

He says those four tires in the classified I linked do not have any cracking. I've seen more than one vendor asking $300 each on the A3 wheel alone so $300 each for good 14.5 + wheel seems like a very good deal...and close to you. Maybe $500 would get you 2 (although he says he wants to sell all in one lot). You certainly won't get the 395 + wheel + adaptor for $300 each.

Question? will the ISUZU NPR CHEVY TILT MASTER GMC W3500 W4500 6 LUGS 16" RIM fit the M105A2 and clear the hub? Or is it too small? I am very new to this and would like some expert guidance before purchase.
Thx...
