I'm looking for opinions and/or experiences of any 5 tons being towed (with the medium tow bar) with the tow brackets on the bottom of the bumper instead of the top. I have brackets on the top and bottom of my 5 ton front bumper and want to remove the top ones to mount something. I searched (now watch, DOGHEAD will post a link to what I'm looking for and I'll feel stupid) and cannot find any posts of using the medium tow bar on the bottom of the bumper. I also have the axle clamps and carry the tow bar and adapters. It doesn't look like to me the angle is a deal killer BUT I have no experience towing a 5 ton. I live in the **** sticks and do not want to ruin the recovery capability of my 5 ton. If I ever break down, it will likely be a civilian wrecker/tow truck towing me home. Will they need those front brackets for their setup? Would they use my axle clamps/tow bar or want those brackets for a whiffle tree type setup? I've looked through the -10 and just don't have the experience to make a good conclusion. Any comments or suggestions is appreciated.
Thanks,
