Soo, has anyone ever put the 6.5 Detroit into a cucv?

Obviously, the cucv comes with a 6.3 Detroit, but has anyone put the bigger 6.5 Detroit into one?

If not, is it possible? Of so, How?

What tranny did you have to use? was it also an Auto or was it a Manny?

The 6.5 is the same external size as the 6.2. They bolt in just fine. The stock TH400 was available behind the 6.5 from the factory and handles it well.

Done it, couple years ago, moves down the road much better, There's a few small issues to consider this is best of memory, someone please correct me if anything looks off.
1 Oil pan, If donor is HMMWV you will need a new oil pan for clearance, 6.2 are 2 piece rear main 6.5 1 piece, pan not interchangeable
2 oil cooler lines, the 6.5 I has larger holes in the block where the oil lines connect, they are recessed enough that a reducing bushing will screw in and the face of it will be close enough to where the 6.2 block is,
3 need all 6.2 sensors including glow plugs, CUCV's 12v HMMWV's 24v
4 I needed a water pump as donor had a serpentine belt = counter rotation, could have used old one from 6.2 but water pumps are cheap.
5 need top cover from 6.2 injection pump (12v vs 24v) heres an issue I ran into http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showth...ler-fittings&p=1453720&viewfull=1#post1453720
6 need 6.2 vacuum pump for auto trans.

Hope this helps, wish I had kept the part # for the oil pan, it came from Rock Auto
