M925A1 Transmission help

Hows it going fellas? I'm working on a 5 ton M925A1 with an Allison transmission. I was told it should take 15w40 but when I dropped the pan to change the filter, it has some sort of ATF in it. Does it require the special Allison ATF or should I use a dexron 3 or 4? Thanks in advance

Lots of these military trucks have used motor oil in the Allison transmission - and that works fine.

SINCE YOU HAVE red ATF already in your transmission, let's use that. Allison spec is Dextron III
