Help with wiring

I removed several hundred swell glow plugs from CUCV's over the past 30 years. I had to remove entire inner fenders and a steering shaft a few times. I never had to remove a cylinder head. I used a curved jaw locking pliers and went in thru the delivery nozzle hole and broke off the tip if needed. It always worked. But the hardest part was getting the inner fenders out. Many times, the truck I was working on ended up with new inner fenders and a few needed new fenders as the inner fender structure was rusted away on both sides. Some jobs start out as basic and end up costing thousands to complete correctly. But many just half fast the vehicles back together. Don't that. The CUCV is a valuable vehicle if maintained and kept stock. Ask me how I know. I sold a few for great money. Good Luck and Keep going. I doubt you will have a struggle getting them out. Get the tools and a cool shady area to work in.

Any time Todd! The throttle cable to IP is secured with a spring clip. Don't have the part number handy now..cannot take a picture as mine has the governor for the PTO generator in the way.
Ok I will contact hillbilly wizard tomorrow. It looks like there's suppose to be a grommet on the cable as well. The cable fitting is loose on the IP linkage.

Part number for the clip is 15567924. Figure 25, item 12 in TM 9-2320-289-34P. This clip forces the cable eye on the large diameter portion of the throttle arm shaft. I don't recall a bushing. Cable is 14038644.

I can't begin to tell you how excited I am. This truck has been in my possession for about 8-10 years stored away in a shipping container. Of all the square bodies I have I am most excited about getting this one going. I have a few light issues to address and possibly a bad #2 alternator. I ordered some more parts from hillbilly wizard. The throttle cable connection set and a headlight switch. Hopefully here in a couple of weeks I will have it on the road.

Full DIY overhaul for the 27SI is about $45. Bearings, regulator, diode trio, main rectifier and brushes. First follow the testing protocol in the sticky thread above. I have only had one alternator fail in rotor winding, easy to diagnose with a multimeter.

Looks like the alternator may have to wait. Took the old girl for a slow roll down the road today and the T400 isn't shifting out of first.
Very common issue. THM400 was designed to work behind a carburetor engine, using manifold vacuum to indicate engine load. On the passenger side of the IP is where a vacuum control valve should be installed. Top tube to transmission.
If valve is missing, direct connection with vacuum pump will show on a test drive if the transmission is properly working as it should shift early. You need to test the vacuum pump first, then replace all hoses as they are surely rotted.

Possibilities, low fluid, blocked filter, vacumn pump, rubber hose from the vacumn pump to the vacumn modulator, vacumn modulator, vacumn valve at the injection pump. The vacumn valve at the fuel injector pump may need adjusting.

Thank you both for all the help. I know the 2 piece vacuum hose connection at the injection pump is cracked. I did a partial jacked up fix on it. I replaced a small section of the hose too. Hopefully I will get some more free time this weekend. Thanks again.
