Light in the Dark has a lot of stuff you might need. I have a machine I parted out as well, so, you can reach out to me as well if he doesn't have something. Some is on my store, other stuff I have no listed.

I bet the machine is okay, a unit with more "money" handed it off and then they spent some time with it until it hit the threshold to just get rid of it since these are considered "obsolete" generators now.

Keep poling away at it. From the pictures and what you have said, I'm sure you will be able to get it going. I'll follow along.

I just picked up another mep802a for $250. It has all the parts I need to make this one a whole unit! I may have another, waiting on this next auction. So I'll be parting out a bunch!

I dunno...

I can't quite see our military or government in general spending the thought it would take to send a used machine to Ukraine. They would rather spend the money for a new (insert NSN here) rather than test and confirm a running model. Different bucket of money...
Wrong. I have seen a picture of a burnt out HUMMV. I have talked to a friend who is now retired. We can and are doing things like that. And if and when we do Patriot, they will have to ship them our gen sets. 400 hertz is not something you go to Home Depot for.

NOW, stop. pause. If you start doing both these two sets in one thread, no one is going to know what is what. So NOW, before you get any farther on. Rename this thread, and start a thread for the other. Or you will be sorry.
I'm not bringing those other two in. The camo is parts for the one this thread is about. The green one is a runner and will be kept. Just the fuel solenoid and associated parts was $240. That's what the camo one is for, a long with aux fuel pump and lines.

Like Farmitall said, do a complete inspection of the engine before you buy anything. Often times there's a good reason why so many parts have been "Borrowed" from it. Either way, anything can be fixed but a seized engine can throw a curve into your plans.
Then just do the bare minimum to get it to start.
No need for the hoses or throttle solenoid at first, just get the fuel system fixed up and the oil system put back together.
disconnect the VR for now and crank it from the dead crank, if no banging noises come from inside, fire it up and see where you're at.
If it runs, then continue on with the repairs.
The beauty of a diesel is that all you really need is a starter and a fuel supply to make it run....
Getting ready to try and start this. Where do I disconnect VR at? Thanks!

If your machine has the quad fuse modification mounted on the left side of the VR you can just pull the fuse out.
If you don't have the fuse mod. you can remove the wire from #8 ( left most ) screw on the VR.
Note: if you don't have the fuse you should add it before electrically testing the generator.

Removing the fuse or the wire from VR terminal 8 will kill power TO the VR. However doing that does not stop the flashing function and the gen head will still generate power when S1 is in START.
A better way is to disconnect the P5 plug. This will disconnect power to the VR and prevent the gen head from being flashed and generate power.
