9-slat grille, yep it's a MB or a ford GPW.. There's only a few minor differences between them, as you may knowPicked this up yesterday, I think it's it's a 1945 MB (Willys), I am going to need A LOT of parts .
Front axles in both GPWs and MBs are round tube Dana 25. I think you mean front crossmembers below the radiator are tubular in an MB and a beam in a GPW.Tubular front axle housing assembly is a Willys MB. Square front axle housing assembly is a Ford GPW.
gun mounts are different shapes between MB versus GPW , i forget which type is on which
Willys were round, like this one .gun mounts are different shapes between MB versus GPW , i forget which type is on which![]()
my father spent the final weeks of the war in Germany and stayed afterwards as part of the Constab until late-1947 or early 1948 , i forget. He talked highly about the ford jeeps , some having the script, and mentioned the time he unknowingly grabbed a 4-wheel-steer from the motor pool to go into Munchen one day.. He said he had quite a time getting accustomed to its handing characteristics, especially when he went to park it in a tight spot , said it didn't do what you'd normally expect when turning the wheel , such as , if you turned tight to put the nose in to a curb, it's a@@ would stick out way too far from a curb, you'd have to take extra time to wiggle it into placeWillys were round, like this one .
I wish it was a GPW .
