I'm calculating 9.6 MPG in my M1165

When I had my M1009 I was mortified if someone thought I painted a K5 in camo - "It came that way from the factory!"

I'd be equally mortified if someone thought my 1165 was one of those SUV conversion kits...

Ironically, I think I could easily do just that. Several in the DRMO lot start right up. I keep mine looking like it's still on active duty, and have never even gotten some side-eye driving it out the gate.

I found on my M1123 the throttle return spring at the end of the pull cable was stretched, replaced it and went from 1050 rpms to 700rpms at idle. That made a big difference, then fixed my Cadillac valve, thermostat and Time Delay Module. That gave me a huge bump... Went from 12 to 14.5. I know it's a 4 speed, but look into that it may help more than you think.

I get about the same mileage. M1123, turbo engine and 40's shoes

I'm serious I get 13... GENERALLY at the time I fill it up I am putting about 17 gallons in almost EVERY time.
Sometimes WAY less sometimes a little more. but I am filling it til the pump shuts off. then the next whole dollar.
I have to babysit because the pump shuts off almost immediately if it is just hanging in the filler.

I refuel at just under 3/4 tank mostly.
The Math says between 12.5 and 13.2 MPG EVERY time.

@thoner7 if you want worser then find one of these huge "fat-and-long brick" usa 'fashionable' cars from <1972, some people joking (but these 8+litre engine with massive carburetor(s) to match..were very much for real) say that as fast as the horizontal speedometer is going to the right the fuel needle is going equally as fast to the left!

I'm running with the 2 wire connector disconnected so the fan is engaged at all times.
Fixing to add AC here in the next week so that should cut it back some.

My 69 442 with a 455 in it (the original 400 gave up the ghost long before I got it.) With TH400 and 3.23 gears... Got a wee bit better mileage than this truck.
My 74 3/4 ton long bed Cheyenne with 454, TH400 and 4.10 Rear Gear, and shell got about 5 MPG...
